QuickBooks Loads Slowly or Gets Stuck on a Grey Screen

QuickBooks Loads Slowly or Gets Stuck on a Grey Screen

If QuickBooks is loading slowly or gets stuck on a grey screen, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Launching the Company File Suppressed

1. Open your company file:

- Hold the ALT key on your keyboard.

- While holding the ALT key, click OK to sign into your company file after entering your credentials.

- Keep holding the ALT key until the top ribbon fully populates or any windows appear.

Suppressing Future Slowness

To prevent future slowness when opening your file, modify these preferences:

1. Disable Pop-Up Messages:

- Navigate to Edit > Preferences > General.

- Select Turn off popup messages for products and services.

2. Adjust Desktop View Settings:

- Navigate to Edit > Preferences > Desktop View.

- Select Don't Save the Desktop.

**Additional Steps**

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you might need to:

1. Perform a Rebuild on the File:

- This process can correct any data integrity issues that may be causing the slow performance.

2. Address User-Specific Issues:

- If the slowness is limited to a single user or a small subset of users, it might be due to a broken user profile.

- Navigate to Company > Users > Set Up Users.

- Delete the affected users.

- Recreate the user profiles with the same names and permissions.

Following these steps should help resolve slowness or grey screen issues when loading QuickBooks.
