Install Parallels Client: MACOS
💻 Overview
Parallels Client for Mac is the application that connects your Mac to the CloudTop hosted environment, giving you access to your Windows applications and desktop — all running securely in the cloud. It is the required client for all CloudTop users on macOS.
⬇️ Installation & Setup
- Download the Parallels Client from the Mac App Store (free)
- Enter the Server URL: ras.cloudtopremote.com
- Use your username and password from your Welcome Letter to connect.
- It will ask if you want to set up Shortcuts — this is optional but recommended for quick access to your apps.
⚠️ macOS Security Prompt: The first time you open Parallels Client, macOS may ask permission to access your network, folders, or camera. Click Allow for all prompts to ensure full functionality.
📄 Using Your Remote Applications & Desktop
Once connected, you will see your published applications and desktop. Here are a few things to know:
- Launching apps: Double-click any published application to launch it. It will open just like a local app on your Mac.
- Drag & Drop: You can drag files from Finder directly into remote applications to open or upload them.
- Copy & Paste: Clipboard sharing is enabled — copy text or files locally and paste inside the remote session, and vice versa.
- Printing: Parallels Client supports Universal Printing, allowing you to print from remote apps to any printer connected to your Mac.
- Multiple Monitors: Multi-monitor setups are supported. Configure display options in Preferences > Display.
- Disconnecting vs. Logging Out: Disconnecting leaves your session running on the server so you can resume later. Logging out ends your session entirely.
🔌 Troubleshooting Common Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|
| Can't connect / connection timeout | Check your internet connection. Try switching networks (e.g., mobile hotspot) to rule out a firewall issue. Contact support if it persists. |
| Black screen after connecting | Disconnect and reconnect. If it continues, restart Parallels Client and try again. |
| Apps not appearing after login | Wait 30–60 seconds for your profile to fully load. If still missing, log out and back in. |
| Slow or laggy performance | Check your internet speed. Close unused local apps to free memory. Reducing display resolution in connection settings can help on slower connections. |
| macOS permission denied errors | Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and ensure Parallels Client has permissions for Files, Microphone, Camera, and Printer access as needed. |
| Prompted to allow folder access repeatedly | This is a known macOS behavior. Add specific folders in Parallels Client Preferences > Local Resources to stop repeated prompts. |
