How to Back Up Your Company File on Our Servers

How to Back Up Your Company File on Our Servers

Regular backups of your QuickBooks files are critical. Our hosted customers can rest assured knowing that we make backups every night; however, we still recommend that you make separate backups every so often, as well.

Here is how you can backup your company files that run on our servers:
1. Open Quickbooks
2. Open your company file in single-user mode. If it's already open, switch to single-user mode in the File menu.
3. Select the Back Up Company option under the File menu.
4. Select Create Local Backup and click on the Local Backup option.
5. Click Options, click the Browse button, and then select a folder in your Q: drive for the backup file.
6. Click the OK button.
7. For the warning that opens, click the "Use this Location" button
8. Click the Next button.
9. Choose the Save It Now option and click the Finish button to begin the backup process.

When the backup is complete, it’s a good idea to move the company file backup to your local PC/Desktop:

1. From the Citrix Workspace open your  "File Explorer"  app and then navigate to your Q: drive.

2. Navigate to the backup file you just created.
3. Right-click the file and select "Copy".

4. Click on "This PC" in the File Explorer navigation pane.
5. The drives listed in the "Devices and Drives" section are your local PC drives.

+ LOCAL DISK (C: ON xxxxx) is the C: drive on your local machine.
+ REMOVABLE DISK (D: ON xxxxx) is the D: drive on your local machine.
+ And so on...

6. To connect to your local machine's C: drive, double-click on LOCAL DISK (C: ON xxxxx).
7. You will now see the folders on your local machine's C: drive.
8. Select a folder, right-click on it, and select "Paste" to copy the file to your local machine.
9. When that finishes, delete the backup file from your Q: drive.
