Updating Your Company File to a Newer Version
When you first open your existing company file with a newer version of the Quickbooks program, you will be prompted to update the company file to run at the newer version.
Here are the steps:
- Start the new version of Quickbooks and navigate to your company file.
- Open the company file. You will receive a message prompting you to make a backup.
- You will need to change the default location of the backup file. Click "Change this default location".
- Click the "Change this" button.
- Browse to your "Q:" drive and click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- Click the Update Now button.
- The backup will run and then the company file will be updated. Once it finishes, click the Done button.
